Yet in its time, Ladyburn was the most advanced in the world because it was a fully automated distillery. As often, the owner, William Grant & Sons, had sought the best balance between tradition and modernity. It was perfectly summarised by the deputy director of the distillery: "We predict that some measures implemented in the past will always be the best and we will continue to use them. Our automations are only there to control the production process, not direct."
